Access VetMed held its annual General Managar Meeting in Bucharest

Some conclusions of the 2024 edition of Access VetMed Generic Veterinary Medicines in Europe Study, that is expected to be published in the last quarter of the year, were advanced during the event.  Its objectives are to provide an overview of the weight and prospects of generics in veterinary medicine.

  • 60% of marketing authorization holders owning generic licenses and around 50% of all veterinary medicine registrations now being generics.
  • Access VetMed members, hold 52% of all veterinary generic registration in Europe.

The president of Acces VetMed, Xavier Molins, interviewed in IM Veterinaria

Xavier Molins, head of Regulatory Affairs at Bimeda and president of Access VetMed has been interviewed in one of the most recognized specialized magazines in the veterinary sector in Spain. On the occasion of the publication of our association’s 2023 activity report, Xavier explains, among other matters, that the great benefit of generic veterinary medicines is that ‘they increase the range of treatment options in many geographical regions and for many species, contributing to improved animal health and welfare.’ He asserts that continuous innovation provides generics with improved characteristics for better use and more precise dosing, which enhances therapy compliance and thus enables prescribers to achieve more appropriate treatments.

Our annual activity report for 2023 is published

12 years of continuous growth for the main players in the veterinary generic and added-value medicines industry in Europe.

• With a 10% growth compared to 4% in 2022, this industry remains on a consistent upward trend.
• The average sales per company also increased, from €86 million in 2022 to €91 million in 2023.

Brussels, 7th May 2024- Access VetMed, the voice of the European industry of generic and added-value veterinary medicines, has just published its yearly Annual Report for 2023, highlighting once more the growth trend of the European generic and added-value medicines business.
The data, collected from its 27 members through a survey, also confirms continuous growth in employees and sales of these companies to non-European Union countries, which have been 4% above those from the last exercise.

Xavier Molins elected as new Chair of Access VetMed

Brussels, 8th September.- Access VetMed’s 21st General Assembly, held on 8th September 2023 in Utrecht, The Netherlands, elected Xavier Molins as its new Chair, for the next term 2023 – 2026. Xavier has almost 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical Industry, with over 20 years in the Animal Health sector where he held Senior positions in both R&D and Regulatory Affairs. Currently, Xavier is the Head of Regulatory Affairs in Europe at Bimeda Animal Health Limited.
The event was attended by over 60 delegates from the Access VetMed membership, which has 27 member companies from several EU countries.
