The European Group for Veterinary Medicines, EGGVP, held its 18th General Managers’ meeting yesterday. The online meeting was attended by 26 members of the association representing generics and value-added veterinary medicines in Europe.

The general managers elected the board for the next three years. The current EGGVP chair Dolores Cainzos was re-elected for the role. She has a long track record in the association, first as vice-chair from 2007, and as chair from 2014 onwards. She is the R&D and Regulatory Affairs Director at Laboratorios Maymó, Spain.

I am enthusiastic for having the opportunity to continue as part of this team and to share my expertise and skills leading the association. During the past years, we have put a lot of effort in the development of the new veterinary medicines legislation and carried out activities that benefit the sector, such as the first market study on generic veterinary medicines in Europe. We have also focused on helping our members adapt to the fast evolving and demanding regulatory environment in different knowledge areas”, Cainzos said.

“We will continue our active role in the development of the EU legislation and initiatives regarding animal health. In parallel, through supporting our members’ innovative capacity and growing our presence in Europe, we aim to increase access to veterinary medicines”, Cainzos stated.

Andreas Werner, the Head of Regulatory Affairs in Bela-Pharm, Germany was elected as a new member. The roles of the other board members stay unchanged: Xavier Molins, the Head of Regulatory Affairs of Bimeda, Ireland, continues as vice-chair, Slavka Pavlič, the Deputy Head of the Registration Documentation of KRKA, Slovenia as secretary, and Leo Aerden, the Chief Scientific Officer at Inovet, Belgium, as treasurer.
